Turkey Spinach Burger Recipe

When the kids want burgers but refuse to eat their vegetables, it’s time to get creative. This turkey burger recipe makes a delicious burger by combining turkey and spinach. You can also throw in raw sunflower seeds and celery which makes them crunchy. If I want to get a little fancier with this simple recipe, feel free to serve with gravy and mushrooms on the side. You can even serve this over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.


How To Make Turkey Spinach Burgers

Our turkey burger recipe uses ground turkey and frozen spinach for that meaty and nutritious bite if you want to sneak some greens into your kids' meals. This recipe also serves it with a simple mushroom sauce if you're feeling a bit extra.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • ½ cup celery, diced
  • 12 oz ground turkey
  • 1 box frozen spinach
  • 2 slices bread, made into crumbs
  • ½ tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds

Optional Mushroom Sauce:

  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • ½ onion
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

For the Turkey Burger:

  1. Drain spinach and squeeze excess water out.
  2. Mix all ingredients.
  3. Divide evenly into patties and fry in nonstick skillet. 4 servings of 3 cakes each.

Mushroom Sauce Option:

  1. Brown one small can of mushrooms in the same skillet you fried the burgers in.
  2. Add more onions if you like.
  3. Add 2 cups of water to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  4. Add all the seasonings. Stir up 2 tbsp cornstarch into about a ¼ cups water.

  5. Add this mixture to the skillet stirring constantly until it starts to thicken.
  6. Add the burgers to the gravy and serve over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
