I am not pregnant but I've been craving burgers lately. In an attempt to avoid the guilt I usually feel after consuming a burger (and let's be honest, lots of fries) from Five Guys or In-N-out, I made these Naked Turkey Burgers piled high with sauteed spinach and mushrooms.
I could have cried they were so good. Even without a bun! But what really got me was watching my husband eat his without dousing it in hot sauce, ketchup, or barbecue sauce. And get this...enjoying it!

The sauteed mushrooms, spinach, and garlic add great flavor so there really is no need for extra saucy stuff. The only thing Brett said was missing was a side of baked sweet potato fries. After all, fries make every burger better.
Naked Turkey Burgers
by Sweet Treats and More
Serves 2
1/2 lb extra lean ground turkey burger, thawed (you can also buy the pre-made, but still uncooked, turkey burger patties from the store)
1/2 tsp Season All
dash salt and pepper
1 tomato, sliced
3 cups fresh spinach
1 1/2 cups fresh, raw mushroom slices
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tbs olive oil
1. If you are using pre-made turkey burger patties season both sides with salt, pepper, and a dash of Season All. If you are making your own patties just shape the meat into two round, flat patties and season as well. Set aside.
2. In a medium-sized sauce pan heat the olive oil over medium heat. Toss in minced garlic, the spinach and mushrooms. Add a dash of salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally for 3-5 minutes until spinach is wilted and mushrooms are tender. Turn heat off.
***you want to do steps 2 and 3 simultaneously.
4. Top each turkey burger with several tomato slices and a heaping spoonful of the sauteed spinach and mushrooms.
Enjoy!

Yum! And you don't have to lie to us about the pregnant thing...just kidding. I feel like whenever I say anything people say, "Oh my gosh you're pregnant!"
